NEW YORK — Former New York Giant Plaxico Burress pleaded guilty Thursday to a weapons charge and agreed to a two-year prison term for accidentally shooting himself at a Manhattan nightclub.
First off... Plaxico is an idiot. There are lots of them here in this country. But New York State is out of line in this punishment of this man. Carrying a gun to a club where you will be drinking is stupid. I am an unconditional proponent of concealed carry based on Vermont regulations for nationwide use. Carrying a weapon to a club would not be allowed. But Plaxico was robbed of his civil rights in the occupied territory of progressive New York. I would rather had a jury trial. 2 years is the crime here. A fine... absolutely for being stupid and careless. But not jail.
