John Adams the movie

I'm about 2/3 of the way through this mini series. At first I was skeptical as it was produced by HBO. But I have to say that so far... I am enjoying it a great deal.

Sacrifice is something that is used so broadly today that it has very little meaning and honor to it. What do we really sacrifice anyways? Time? Position? Money? Security? Life?  Some really do. Those we rarely hear about. But the vocal self proclaimed ones thump their chests and cry, "hey look at the sacrifice I've made for the country... I do all this for you, I'm your senator".  Or this..."I gave up my $200k law career to be a community organizer and help the poor and distraugt." Disregard the fact that his household income increased somehow. Oh I digress...

SACRIFICE

In the movie, Adams was in France at a dinner where he was being made fun of for working so hard in the fight for his new country. He was asked if he ever took time away from that boring stuff to study important things like art or music. His reply really made me pause and put his world, his fight into today's context. His said after a long pause and in a quiet tone but a strong fixed look in his eyes...

"I must study politics and war that my sons may have liberty to study mathematics and philosophy. My sons ought to study mathematics and philosophy, geography, natural history, naval architecture, navigation, commerce and agriculture in order to give their children a right to study painting, poetry, music, architecture, statuary, tapestry, and porcelain."

SACRIFICE

Many of us right now have this hunger for studying the history of our founders and the construction of our constitution. About the foundations that made this country great. For the role God had and needs to have in it. We are being drawn into things we had little desire of just a few years ago. We had lives we were busy with. But now... it's almost an innate feeling we are experiencing... really no different than our bodies craving for protein after a week of salads. But now it's in our souls. It's almost as if we who call ourselves freemen, by instinct, know, we must prepare for something.

And that something is not good.

Please, feed your hunger.

  1. The nail has been hit on the head with this post.

Sir, we who know the truth about what's important in life finally know what it is like to be real men.

This is how mankind was meant to feel. But decadence, once called "panem et circi" (bread and circuses), has poisoned our thoughts and our human nature; we have been conditioned to love our servitude, and to shy away from the face of God.

No more, friend of the Republic. Our time has come to reemerge, with God as our Rock and our Vindicator.

"What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?" ~Romans 8:31

  2. I recently had a chance to view the John Adams series during my trek to the Bachman rally and it was wonderful!

God must be the center of our lives. I am now learning more about our Founding Fathers and the founding documents because I fear what this country is headed for. I am preparing for what could be a 2nd revolution. We must continue to fight to keep our freedom and liberty, and to stop this tyranny being forced upon us.

    God Bless!

  3. I stupidly rented either vol 2 or 3 in the series and watched to get my $5 worth (I want to be CEO of Blockbuster in my next life). I thought it was well done. I've been meaning to go back and rent the whole thing but haven't gotten around to it yet.

As always, thank you for your comment. You always leave me so little to add.

I think the second revolution has been going on for the last hundred years. As with you, I too am preparing for the battle at hand. My weapon of choice for now is education and knowledge of the truth. My goal is smite as many as I can who still have an open mind. It is after that I ask our God for protection... and wisdom.

I almost didn't rent this because the thought of watching 10 hours was "when can I do this?" I am so glad I made the time. Historically accurate with awesome cg work. This is as close to that era you will come across.
I will work on my roll.
